Scoutmaster
Notes 10-14-2003
1) Scouts should bring their troop binder, a pen and
their scout book each and every week and on all troop outings. Merit
badge work sheets that are incomplete should be kept in their binder. Then as a requirement has been completed,
the scout can show it to the councilor. Plus, each binder should have important
troop information to share with his parents.
2) December 6th, 7th and 8th troop trip is to Charleston, SC to visit the
Yorktown. We are not staying on the
ship because of the high price, but are camping in a nearby county park. That gives us some other options for
activities, provided we have enough adults.
A) we can work on the climbing merit badge. They have a state of the art
climbing tower. B) They have nature
trails, bike rentals, or we can take a tour of old Charleston. I am looking for feedback. If you plan on going what would you want to
do. Right now with the camp rental,
Yorktown tour, gas for the bus we are borrowing and food, the price will be $32
for scouts and $20 for adults. Patrol
leaders need to share this information with their members and communicate to
our new Senior Patrol Leader what they would like to do with our extra time in
Charleston.
3) I would like to move the monthly Patrol Leader Council
meeting to Sunday afternoons at 12:30 pm.
The next meeting would be Sunday 11-16-2003 at 12:30pm. Communicate to your SPL what you think.
Remember, for leadership credit you must attend the monthly PLC’s.
4) If you know that you are going to miss a Tuesday
meeting, you should call your patrol leader and let him know in advance. Then
your patrol leader should call you with information that you missed. Please
start this practice. Good communications is
a important trait of being
prepared.
